Retronym's youngest producer Jared VanMatre creates yet another gem in the form of feature length album, Fields Of Thought. Jared aka Kinesthetiac continues his somewhat prodigious talent with an ear for creative nuance and technical ability most of us could have only dreamed of having in our mid-teens.

Fields Of Thought is an exploration of many different colours, hues and tones which blend into a culmination of what has inspired Jared musically, and how he has output those thoughts in his own unique, orginative way.

Following on from the Eternal album recently released on his SoundCloud page with heaps of praise from its listeners, Gander is the latest chapter in this rapidly evolving musical adventure. The intro track Airwaves flows at a perfectly steady momentum, glowing keys and bright guitar calmly shift into a key change saturated in euphoria - an epic crescendo that really sets the high standard Gander sticks to throughout. The elegantly stripped-back piano work of Untitled sits seamlessly between the beat-infused Carbon-Based Lifeform and looping, delicately askew Red Oak. Mackeral Sky closes Gander as it commenced with a mood enhancing finale that leaves a thirst to listen all over again.

Means Business is a record that begins by looking directly into the heart of the corporate art aesthetic, using the fictitious Boreal Network organization itself as a lens through which to peer into a world of glistening office parks and freshly printed documents.

The first half of the record gleams with polish and bravado, promising high rates of return and prosperity. As the album progresses however, sounds and themes suggest a gritty, polluted reality lurking beyond the shining facade of industry. The latter portion of Means Business is pocked with distorted, dirty sounds and leering, noxious synths, as the proud image of Boreal Network steadily becomes completely choked out by smog and desolation. Artwork provided by the ever-brilliant Joe Bastardo at Future Forest Design.

Lazurite is the debut EP under project Naal's Daylight Rain pseudonym. From the very start we are introduced to dipping chords, pitching melodies and beautiful twinkles which are thematic throughout and appear to glide and phase patiently via perfectly dusted magnetic tape.

Daylight Rain somehow manages to squeeze in countless amounts of sound yet nothing overpowers, every little speck of vibration pays compliment to its audible neighbour with perfection. Emerald Jet highlights this with aplomb, every component finds its way into some kind of imaginary space with ease. Motion Fix could well have been the product of one of Lone's more summer haze-infused moments. The gorgeous Lake Discovered allows dreamlike echoes of funk and disco to sneak out from under the surface whilst Carpet Void's beats skitter to a backdrop of extremely soothing and breathy vocals. Rododendron completes the EP with a flourish, steadily brooding along before a spray of arpeggiated bleeps introduce themselves, circulating semi-chaotically and aptly summing up Daylight Rain's ability to seamlessly switch between and fuse the subtle with the energetic. A truly great listen.

The first few tracks are trademark Trills, patient melodies crafted around deep kicks and echoing snares with a wall of beauteous twinkles and dischords with percussion that flickers between downtempo and chunky 808's.

Everything gradually melts into spiraling arpeggios and analogue machinery is forced to squeeze out it's most stunning of sounds - conjuring up the kind of imagery that would fit perfectly as an alternative soundtrack to something like Tarkovsky's Stalker. The closing track Flect is the ultimate swan song, a ten-minute long epic which condenses the massive array of shades and styles that Jindra has in his audio locker.

INtC also pays direct homage to a few of his inspirators. Hills West's Skydreamer is placed into an echo chamber and blended with jilted Xhale beats, whilst Aphex Twin's understated classic Stone in Focus is given some patient treatment with steady percussion and subtle effects.

Influence EP ends on a beautiful note with Trying To Remember, the rotary synths and distant activity provide the capability to put you in a headphase.

River Precinct is Texan artist Josh Wiggins. Delivering his debut release here on Retronym, Moky Way is sonic experimentation of the highest order. This EP clocks in at just 15 minutes, but with so many tangible layers to explore you'd be forgiven for being completely sucked in to a place where time becomes irrelevant.

Moky Way is inspired by Josh's childhood experiences at his grandparents' property, evoking the memories of a withered satellite dish that sat in their backyard field (as featured in the cover art). This EP is distant and brooding, reversed chords suck into a vacuum whilst delicate and subtle tweets creep out from within the depths of the atmosphere.

Boreal Network's latest record is an extra special release, dedicated to and inspired by the gray wolf - a beautiful animal that has witnessed the brink of extinction, hunted by those that fear and misunderstand it. In Cole's own words:

"This record represents a renewed focus on the inspirations that originally congealed into Boreal Network back in 2006 - mellow, melodic, ponderous, melancholic electronic music that speaks love for the natural world and sympathy for the human place both within and outside of it. The title track was written in early 2006 when Boreal Network was fresh, and in 2009 new music was built up to accompany it both thematically and sonically. This record is a tribute to the gray wolf as an animal and as an object of human wonder, adoration, and persecution. Boreal Network has decided that merely paying artistic lip service to nature is unhelpful, and so 100% of the donations received from fans for downloading this record will be placed in a special account and gifted to Wildlife Science Center, a conservation and education facility in Boreal Network's home state of Minnesota."

This time around Jindra takes an exploration through patient, brooding ambience. A post-noise excursion with influences hailing back to the kosmische era, drawing out imagery of dark machinery and primitive electronics. Monera is an album that could well have been crafted in the Radiophonic Workshop, had it been built in an ice tunnel accommodating spirits who wailed into its endlessness.

Flatlanders sparks circling tones as they get caught in a web of glitching static before peaking to a point of euphoria in The Heart is Infinite as deep percussion bubbles over beautiful plinking and reversed, creeping chords. A Vision of Clarity nods towards the Disintegration Loops, whilst Liquid Sunshine evokes its title perfectly. These delicate progressions would get along nicely with pieces by the likes of Emeralds and the more melancholic works of Oneohtrix Point Never.

Monera is a release which feels very personal, rewards reaped when hidden depths are uncovered with more attentive listening, perfect for when the lights are dim and the distractions are at a minimum. A truly thought provoking experience.
